WordPress vs. Dreamweaver-5 reasons to use Dreamweaver

As of late, I have noticed that there is a new battle out there on the horizon. WordPress vs. Dreamweaver. Which program is better to use for building websites? Well I know where my vote stands but I took to the streets of Google to find some answers to this age-old question. What I found may perplex some fellow web designers or even surprise them. I found that it seems to be about a 50/50 toss-up between the two.  Some people prefer WordPress since you can update and manage the information on a daily basis, while others prefer Dreamweaver just due to the sheer volume of cool applications you can use.

Personally, I prefer to use Dreamweaver. Let me give you the top reasons why I believe if you are creating a website you should use Dreamweaver and not WordPress.

1. WordPress was originally designed to use for blogs. So, pretty much all you have on here is templates. Which unless you want your website to look like a blog, then I would suggest using Dreamweaver.

2. On WordPress you can create themes, which is why some people argue that WordPress can be original. However, a theme is just that, it’s a theme, there is nothing special about a theme.

3. WordPress is great for blogs. Shoot, I use it for my own blog. However, if you want a professional site you are going to need to know some coding and some Flash and on WordPress your just not going have those applications.

4. If you are a web designer then there should be no reason you should use WordPress for creating any website. WordPress should only be used if you are novice and have never designed a site before.

5. Finally, if you are a company and paying for a website to be done, then please do not waste your money on having a supposed professional create a website from WordPress. If you are going to pay for a professional site then you need someone who knows how to use Dreamweaver.

So whether you agree with me or not I would like to hear your comments below. Let me know what you think the answer to the is age-old question is. Thanks for any comments or replies.

  1. Nonsense. Wp is a kind of cms like joomla that i use a lot. Dreamweaver is used to build the templates for joomla and wp f.i. If you only use dreamweaver it’s just for simple static sites.
